Lin, who has taken a step back from both cooking and operating his restaurants, made the change in response to changes in tastes and preferences among diners in the area. The new restaurant, which Lin describes as "New York Style Chinese," features a few holdover items from the Papa Chow menu - Egg Foo Yung, Hibachi Chicken & Pad Thai - but also Szechuan-style and other additions like Hot and Numbing Chicken or Flounder and Salt & Pepper fish.
Hao is now more authentic than its predecessor restaurant, but slightly less authentic than Lin's other two recent rebrands, Hai Chinese in Suburban Plaza in Decatur and Urban Wu in Piedmont Peachtree Crossing in Buckhead. Hai replaced Tabi Sushi which itself replaced Smoke + Duck Sauce a hybrid Asian + Barbecue eatery, while Urban Wu replaced Chow Bing, a quick-serve Chinese restaurant.
Hao is not as adventurous as the other two eateries [no pig feet] and is also not as expensive. A full bar and a selection of fresh desserts will be added to the restaurant in the coming weeks.
